Zlata Bishev

Zlata is a passionate and persuasive advocate. Her sharp analytical and communication skills along with her thorough preparation allow her to deliver practical results-oriented solutions for her clients.

Prior to joining Evangelista, Zlata articled at a litigation firm in downtown Toronto, where she gained hands-on experience across a diverse range of matters, including insurance defence, subrogation, personal injury and commercial disputes. During her articles, she was involved in various stages of the litigation process, including motions, mediations, discoveries and court proceedings.

Zlata earned both her Canadian Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and her United States Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. During law school, she served as President of Women and the Law, where she helped lead fundraising efforts to establish a scholarship supporting women pursuing legal education. She also served as President of the Transnational Law Moot, a cross-border competition between Canadian and American law students.

Throughout law school, Zlata was actively involved in providing legal services to members of the community on both sides of the border. In Michigan, she volunteered with a legal clinic assisting low-income veterans with obtaining health benefits. In Windsor, she volunteered with Community Legal Aid, where she supported individuals facing barriers to accessing legal services. These opportunities allowed her to hone her skills as an advocate while navigating different legal systems.

Before attending law school, Zlata earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University. During her studies, she founded and operated her own personal training business before pursuing a career in law. Her entrepreneurial background provided her with early experience working directly with clients and developing solutions tailored to individual needs.

Outside of the office, Zlata enjoys staying active, travelling and exploring new restaurants and cuisines. She is fluent in Russian.
