Michael Kennedy

Michael Kennedy’s diverse background and commitment to client advocacy make him a valuable asset to the team at Evangelista, Barristers & Solicitors. His practice focuses on commercial general liability and defending product liability, occupier’s liability, and personal injury actions. Additionally, he maintains a growing subrogated claims practice.

With a background as a former investigative journalist and award-winning writer, Michael leverages his written and oral advocacy skills to develop persuasive arguments that advance his clients’ interests and consistently secure favourable outcomes. Notably, in Hunter v. King, his written submissions to the Ontario Court of Appeal were instrumental in the Court’s decision to uphold a lower court ruling.

Prior to his legal career, Michael worked at prominent publications such as the London Free Press, Canadian Business magazine, and Reader’s Digest. His investigative work into Canada’s pharmaceutical industry earned a nomination for a National Magazine Award.

During his time as a student at Osgoode Hall, Michael pursued his passion for research and writing, serving as Senior Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal. His legal writing has been featured in Windsor Law’s Yearbook of Access to Justice with the article “Litigating in the Time of Coronavirus: Mental Health Tribunals’ Response to COVID-19” and in the Osgoode Hall Law Journal with “The Class Actions Controversy: The Origins and Development of the Ontario Class Proceedings Act.”

Michael received his Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and a Master of Arts in Journalism from Western University. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and The Advocates’ Society.
