Margaret Shanahan

Margaret Shanahan is a co-founder of Evangelista, Barristers & Solicitors. As the Director of Business Operations, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business functions of the firm. Her experience in the practice of law; both privately and managing a national in-house litigation department has provided her with a unique perspective that has informed her business management style. Her commitment to efficient and effective business practices  allows the legal team to focus on delivering exceptional legal services to their clients.

Under Margaret’s guidance, Evangelista, Barristers & Solicitors continues to thrive, providing top-tier legal services and maintaining its reputation as a leading litigation and insurance law firm. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s success and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Margaret graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1992, marking the beginning of a distinguished legal career. She began her professional journey at a mid-sized litigation firm in downtown Toronto, where her expertise and dedication quickly earned her a partnership.

In 1999, Margaret transitioned from private practice to take on the role of Chief Litigation Counsel for  a global insurance company . In this capacity, she was responsible for supervising the practice of lawyers across Canada within the company’s In-House Litigation Department. Her strategic oversight and legal acumen significantly contributed to the success and efficiency of the department.

Margaret’s professional affiliations reflect her commitment to the legal community and beyond. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and TLOMA. Additionally, Margaret contributes her expertise as a Board Member for the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club, showcasing her dedication to community involvement and youth development.
